Advocacy
CrewCare acknowleges there are already some well-established organisations that broadly encompass and represent the live production sector. We have built many valuable relationships with peak industry bodies nationwide and collaborate with them to acheive our goals by bringing greater awareness to the issues presented and encouraging further action.
None of these have been developed specifically to represent the needs of crew, however. Rather than becoming an organisation which challenges companies that are not adequately addressing crew needs, CrewCare wishes to maintain a non-combative approach and collaborate with these organisations, educating and encouraging them to broaden their involvement in crew welfare further. CrewCare acknowledges that working closely with aligned organisations will be of significant benefit and essential to making an impact within the industry.
CrewCare wishes to specialise in a role that fosters and maintains relationships with external entities, referring crew to services that are equipped with the knowledge and expertise to manage particular situations or issues. CrewCare is a charitable organisation that requires industry support. Vital to our success is the preservation of relations with all industry sectors to ensure those goals are met. CrewCare will embrace and involve all sectors of the music industry, and the contribution of other ancillary sectors, in its effort to improve crew welfare.
CrewCare will actively promote and highlight the issues and challenges live production crew are confronted with. We aim to become a representative organisation that can encourage political/policy change, embracing its platform to create public awareness of the impacts of the live music and entertainment industry to crew welfare. To facilitate this change, CrewCare has already engaged with Arts Ministers from various states. These key personnel are keen to support arts sector organisations and implement change. Institutions such as the Australian Council are assessing their current funding structure, carefully analysing organisations who have exemplified similar moral objectives and ways in which to align with like-minded groups.
CrewCare will campaign to government and local councils to address policy discrepancies that negatively affect crew’s ability to gain employment, restrict their ability to work, and subsequently impact their wellbeing. CrewCare will request government grants and/or subsidies, approaching the relevant bodies for sponsorships and concessions. It will develop policy submissions on behalf of crew to propose to industry and government bodies charged with research and decision-making authority.
